The winner of the inaugural Strictly New Business competition is already considering expanding and will be offering new services just four months after moving into her new office space at Lingfield Point.
Kate Schott who runs Enlightened Living, which provides new approaches to self-healing and personal development by offering sessions of Metamorphic Technique, Mind Detox Method and Inspirational Workshops, believes that winning the competition has offered her fledgling business new opportunities that would not have been possible otherwise.
‘Strictly New Business’ was open to brand-new business ideas or existing businesses that have been trading for less than 24 months. In a fiercely fought final, three short-listed contenders made their pitches for the top prize of a year’s free office space at Lingfield Point including rent, rates, service charge, buildings insurance and utilities.
The lucky winner also benefitted from office insurance provided by Henderson Insurance Brokers and free business financial advice from Arlington Financial.
Kate’s presentation wowed the judges who complimented her on her style and enthusiasm as well as her business acumen.
Kate has since completed teacher training with Gaston St Pierre, the founder of The Metamorphic Association and now plans to run a series of workshops for people wanting to learn more about the technique. She has also been able to spend time giving talks and demonstrations across the region.
Kate said: “For someone just starting out I am very fortunate to not have the added financial pressure of rent and rates to pay while I am establishing my business.
“The publicity following the competition has helped raise my profile and awareness of Enlightened Living. People are travelling from as far away as Carlisle to have The Metamorphic Technique. I’ve also had clients from Lingfield Point as it is ideal for them to come during their lunch break or after work.
“Everyone at Lingfield Point has been very supportive and welcoming. It is a great location with ample parking for clients and the office space is light and airy.
“There is a possibility that Enlightened Living may look to expand in order to offer more services and possibly products so I may be looking for a bigger office next year. I will certainly be staying at Lingfield Point though!”
Eddie Humphries, Estate Manager at Lingfield Point said: “It was very exciting to welcome Kate to her new office space in Lingfield House as the winner of Strictly New Business.
“Lingfield House has office space that is perfect for smaller and growing businesses. Our ethos is excellent customer care and satisfaction and we are delighted that Enlightened Living is doing so well, in such a short space of time.”
