Event Will Get Your Business Fighting Fit

An event is being held to help North East businesses grow despite the challenges of the battered UK economy.

The Fighting Fit Conference is designed to help companies grow and thrive in the current climate, and will give people the chance to learn the secrets of growth from successful entrepreneurs, including Gü Chocolate Puds founder James Averdieck, who has built his business idea into a £35m enterprise.

Taking place at The Sage Gateshead, on September 22, the event has been organised by Business Link to provide masterclasses, talks and networking sessions to help them grow.

Julie Spowart, Events Manager for Business & Enterprise North East (BE-NE) which delivers the Business Link service in the North East, said: “Fighting Fit 2010 will focus on the various ways to approach business growth in the current uncertain economic climate. Delegates will be able to explore the options available to them and plan future development.

“Masterclasses will specifically focus on ways to increase your market share, implement diversification strategies and work successfully with others in partnerships and collaboration.”

Business people from inside and outside the region will come together to share their experiences of growing their own businesses and offer their advice.

Keynote speakers are Richard Denny, a business growth specialist who has a diverse career in a cross section of sectors, and James Averdieck, who is a Durham University graduate.

Alastair MacColl, Chief Executive of Business & Enterprise North East, said: “I’m delighted to have Richard and James attending the conference as they are both inspirational speakers who have achieved so much.

“James clearly spotted a gap in a seemingly overcrowded sector and with Gü has taken on deeply entrenched competition and won highly coveted supermarket shelf space.

“I am sure he will provide a valuable insight into how you can grow your business into a £35m enterprise and realise its full potential.”

Tickets are £25, details at www.eventsnortheast.co.uk/kybff or by telephoning 0191 281 5777.
