Hewitts Solicitors opened its purpose built new office, in Freemans Place, Haughton Road, Darlington recently to widespread acclaim for the impressive design and contribution to the regeneration of the local area.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Lee Vasey, said she was impressed with the state of the art offices and praised the disabled access and mother and baby facilities while Councillor Isobel Hartley, who represents the Central ward, where the offices are based, said she believed the Hewitts development adds significantly to the area.
The opening ceremony saw Cllr. Vasey cut the official red ribbon while Cockerton Vintage Band played in the sunshine.
John Turner, Senior Partner at Hewitts, said that despite a difficult economic climate, the new offices represented the firm’s confidence in its long term future.
Hewitts is one of the largest solicitors in County Durham with offices in Bishop Auckland, Crook, Stockton, and Newton Aycliffe but it has been one of Darlington’s oldest local solicitors for decades. The firm has moved from its original Bondgate location but has kept the same phone number.
