September is a really eventFUL month for Darlington businesses, with 3 events being hosted by the Business Engagement team!
EVENT 1 - 7 September – Survive and Thrive: Support for Your Employees and You
This FREE breakfast event will look at the help that is available to businesses within the current economic climate. Whether your business is experiencing difficulties and may be faced with having to make staff redundant OR perhaps your business is experiencing a period of growth and expansion, there is a wealth of guidance out there.
The session will open with a short presentation from Des McMenamin, Assistant Plant Manager at Cummins illustrating some of the challenging issues that their business has faced in recent years and how the business is becoming stronger and ready for the opportunities that lay ahead.
In addition, a follow on presentation will briefly illustrate the range of support locally available to both businesses and their employees facing difficult times, which people may not be aware of:
· Welfare benefits: what the Government says is yours by right;
· What to do if jobs are under threat;
· Money management and the principles of budgeting,
· Which debts are priorities;
· What kind of mortgage is best;
· Why insurance is often a good idea;
· Do employees know how much they can afford to spend?
· The benefits of payroll giving.
There will be an opportunity to network with other local businesses and learn about the support that is available from organisations that include Darlington Credit Union and Darlington Citizen's Advice Bureau.
This event may appeal to a wide range of professionals within local businesses; whether from a HR, business development or corporate social responsibility perspective.
Registration will begin at 7.45am when breakfast sandwiches will be served, with presentations starting at 8.00am.
This event is being delivered in partnership with Darlington Credit Union and Darlington Citizen's Advice Bureau.
