Story Title

Polish Peer Mentors Wanted

Do you employ Polish staff?

Imagine moving to a new country to find employment and start a new life. Would you know the language, would you understand the culture, would you know anyone?

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust’s Health Improvement Service are working with Dom Polski (Darlington Polish Association

www.dpdarlington.co.uk

to reduce isolation, improve access to services and increase communication within the Polish community in Darlington.

We are looking to recruit volunteer "Peer Mentors" to support Polish people settling in Darlington. A peer mentor is a volunteer who will be a first point of contact to help Polish people who may have little English and need help to understand how to access services, find their way around Darlington, understand English systems, or just a friendly face in a new place. All volunteers will complete a formal qualification in mentorship.

We are looking for Polish people with good English skills and want to support other Polish people. For more information please contact Monika on 01325 467 481 between 9 am – 2 pm.
