Fire-fighters are warning of the dangers of smoking and drinking in a safety campaign launched recently. The drive follows a spate of house fires sparked by discarded cigarettes, where excessive drinking was a factor in the blaze. Fire-fighters will distribute ‘In Case of Emergency’ cards, where people can write the name and number of someone the emergency services can contact.
Pearson Design & Print designed and produced 4 types of card in total - all have a strip where the owner can write the phone number of someone that the emergency services can contact if the need should arise, and are credit card sized plastic cards that can be kept secure in a purse or wallet. On the reverse of the cards is a simple message from one of the partners. For example, in the case of the Community Alcohol Service, there is a telephone number for confidential advice and support for people concerned about their own or someone else's level of drinking. Durham & Darlington Fire Brigade recently launched the campaign in Durham city, with support from health bosses and leading charities such as the British Lung Foundation and Balance.
